The radar provides:
- Detection of runways and ensuring landing in conditions of restricted optical visibility in adverse weather conditions
- All-weather detection and, if necessary, warning to the crew about obstacles (terrain irregularities, wires, supporting structures, pipes, buildings, etc.)
- Support for search and rescue operations at sea and on land
Optional Capabilities
If necessary, the radar Vidimost-2000 can be designed in a dual-band (X- and W-band) version with the implementation of the following additional features:
- detection and determination the coordinates of thundery fronts, moisture targets, assessment of their danger (Meteo mode)
- generation of highly informative radar images of underlying surface, shoreline (Mapping mode with the implementation of stripmap high-resolution images)
Principle of Operation
Coherent forward-looking radar with an aggregate 3-mm radar signal is installed in the nose compartment along the axis of the aircraft.
The radar does not have controls and display information surfaces, but provides for the control and display of information on the standard surfaces of the platform.
The radar serves as an electronic vision element, which is provided by the capability to supply radar information in the form of primitives and data, including to the indicator on the windshield.
Benefits
- High angular resolution that allows distinguishing low-contrast (small-size targets) and non-contrast objects (runways, taxiways) against the background of the land cover
- High accuracy of angular coordinate measurement
- High spatial selectivity, which ensures the solution of the following problems:
- autonomous all-weather, in the absence of optical visibility, detection and obtaining reliable high accuracy information of about the relative position of the aircraft and the runway
- detection and selection of small-sized equipment against the ground in real time in the direction of the aircraft motion
- ensuring electromagnetic compatibility
- approach to the passenger boarding bridge and others
Scope
Newly developed and modernized civil (regional aviation), military and special-purpose aircraft intended for landing on uncontrolled or poorly controlled airfields.
